Unemployed granted 25 million cedis bail for stealing.

Tema, Jan. 25, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court “A” has granted Alfred Ocansey, an unemployed man 25 million cedis for attempting to stab a carpenter, whom he had gone to steal from at Tema Community Four. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted stealing and threatening and will reappear on February 8, 2005.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on January 4, 2005, while the complainant was keeping watch at his workshop, the accused emerged from a hide out with two others now at large, and entered the shop.

The accused and his accomplices started collecting coffee tables, centre table and cushions valued at 1.5 million cedis, while in the process, the complainant held his trousers and shouted for help. The accused then pulled out a screwdriver from his pocket and threatened to stab the complainant.

Chief Inspector Acquah said other witnesses came in and overpowered him and was sent to the Community One Police Station and after investigations he was charged with the offences.
