Benjamin Sam, unemployed, who had anal sex with an 11-year-old boy, was on Thursday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Sam, 21, pleaded guilty to defilement and was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector I.A.A. Ahor, said the complainant was the victim, who resides at Chorkor and the convict resides at Mamprobi.
On July 30, this year, at about 1300 hours, the victim went to the seashore to play football with his friends and on his way home, Sam called the victim, but he ignored him.
The victim then took to his heels, but Sam chased him until he apprehended the victim.
The prosecution said Sam pulled the victim into a wooden structure and removed his knickers and had anal sex with him.
Chief Inspector Ahor said after the act, Sam ordered the victim to leave the scene, but the victim broke down in tears and that attracted a group of good Samaritans to the scene.
They, however, apprehended Sam and handed him over to the Police.
In Sam’s cautioned statement to the Police, he admitted the offence.**
