Unemployed fined 200 Ghana cedis for stealing a bicycle

Konongo-Ashanti, April 30, GNA – A Konongo Magistrate’s court has fined Kwaku Sarpong 20 and unemployed 200 Ghana cedis on his own plea for stealing a bicycle valued at 200 Ghana cedis at Konongo in Asante Akim North Municipality.

Sarpong also known as “Otwinoko” would serve 16 months imprisonment in default.

Police Chief Inspector, Jayson Damankah, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Bosco Nabarese, that sometime in December last year, the accused stole the bicycle from a workshop at Freetown, a suburb of Konongo and sold it at Kumasi.

He said Kofi Baah, the complainant reported the theft to Konongo police who during investigations arrested Amia Akubaga using the bicycle on February 17, this year.

The prosecution said Akubaga told the police accused sold it to him, the accused was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
