UNA to organise public lecture on Rule of Law

Accra, Aug 9, GNA – The United Nations Association -Ghana (UNA-Gh) and its United Kingdom counterpart is organising a public lecture on the Rule of Law among Nations on Tuesday, August 10, 2004.

The lecture, scheduled for the British Council in Accra on the theme:” Developing the Rule of Law Among Nations; A Challenge to the United Nations”, would come off between 1700 to 2000 hours. A statement signed by Mr Emmanuel N. Amuasekye-Amoah

Secretary-General, UNA-Gh on Monday said over 250 participants, including diplomats, the judicial service, political parties, trade unionists, security agencies and parliamentarians are expected to attend the lecture.

It said the lecture to be chaired by Mr Justice George Kinsley Acquah, the Chief Justice, is aimed at promoting awareness and support for the principles of the UN and its agencies.

The statement said a message on the Rule of Law Among Nations by the United Nations Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan, would be read to participants.

A senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Mr Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, would also deliver a paper.
