UK Foreign student visa price to rise

22nd April — The cost of visas for overseas students coming to the UK is expected to more than double.

The change, implemented by the Government’s visa service UK Visas, will see the price rise from ?36 to ?85.

A Foreign Office spokesman defended the move, saying the increased number of applications justified the hike in costs.

“We encourage student applications but the number of all visa applications has grown by 30% in the last two years,” he said.

“The visa issuing system is reviewed regularly to ensure that it is modern, fair and efficient.

“The increase in costs reflects this.”
