UK Catholic Organisation supports education in Nadowli District

Wa, July 20, GNA – Lasallian Developing World Projects, a Catholic Charity Organisation based in the United Kingdom (UK) has spent an amount of 240,000 pounds sterling over the past 20-years, to improve on education infrastructure in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region.

Mr Matthew Song-Aabo, the Project Coordinator said this when he led a12 member team from the UK to meet the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Cezar Kale.

The team briefed the Deputy Minister of their mission before leaving for Kaleo in the Nadowli District, where the team has planned to construct a five bedroom accommodation for teachers of the Kaleo Catholic Primary School. Mr Son-Aabo said the Organisation had since 1991, been supporting the district, by assisting to improve on the poor education infrastructure in many schools across the district.

So far it had assisted in equipping many of the schools with infrastructure, such as teacher’s accommodation, classrooms, dormitories and toilet facilities among others.

The Organisation has a fruitful relationship with the people of the Nadowli District and had been sending delegations to undertake its yearly development plans for the district, Mr Son-Aabo added.

Mr Cezar Kale thanked the team and expressed his gratitude to the Lasallian Developing World Projects for choosing to support the region in the area of

education. He said providing educational infrastructure was one of the major concerns for government and therefore any effort by any civil society organisation towards that direction would be highly welcomed.

Mr Kale noted that the contributions of the Catholic Church in the area of education in the country so far had been phenomenal and was therefore not surprised that the team was coming from a Catholic Charity Organisation.

The Deputy Regional Minister pledged to support them in any way he could to make their stay in the region a memorable one.

Miss Clare Brewen, the Leader of the team on behalf of his colleagues thanked the Deputy Regional Minister for the warm reception accorded them. She said they would work hard to ensure that whatever responsibility they were charged with would be completed within schedule.

Other personalities who accompanied the delegation to meet the Minister were Mr Iddrisu Salifu, Wa West District Education Director and Mr Felix Anzunaa, Headmaster of Kaleo Technical Senior High School (SHS).
