UG, UCC Receive Computers From US

The University of Ghana has taken delivery of 35 computers and accessories and eight boxes of Psychology and Sociology books donated to it by Central Connecticut State University in the USA.

Fifteen computers were also donated by the same university to the University of Cape Coast. The computers which are valued at 15,000 US dollars are for distribution to various departments of the two universities.

A release issued by the University of Ghana said community service was an integral part of the mission of Central Connecticut State University and the donations formed part of CCSU’s contribution to the advancement of the mission and goals of the Universities of Ghana and Cape Coast.

The donation it said was made possible through the effort of some members of faculty of Central Connecticut University, namely, Dr. Charles Mate-Kole, Dr. Tennyson Darko and Dr. Peter Lemaire (currently a visiting Professor at the Department of Physics at Legon) who played a very important role in procuring the computers while Mr. Marcus Wiafe was instrumental in shipping them to Ghana.

The University of Ghana is grateful to Central Connecticut State University for the very kind gesture, the release said.
