UFP Elects New Executives

The United Front Party (UFP) on Saturday elected new regional executives to steer the affairs of the Party in the Western Region at a meeting in Takoradi.

In all, 14 people were elected unopposed to various positions to pursue the Party victory agenda in the 2012 polls.

Mr. Osei Agyen was elected unopposed as chairman, Ben Fodah,1st vice chairman, Emmanuel Baah Boateng, 2nd vice chairman and Eric Ennin, 3rd vice chairman.

Others include; Lawyer K. Gyamfi, secretary, Issakah Mahama, organizer and Theresah Buckman, Women’s organizer.

Mr. Benjamin Bio, Western Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), supervised the elections and charged the elected executives to work towards entrenching democracy in the Party and the country at large.

He said the Electoral Commission Law CI 15 (Section10) stipulated that; if after close of nominations, only one person has filed to contest an election, that person would be elected unopposed.

In view of this, all those elected were elected unopposed because they were the only people that had filed to contest those positions.

Mr. Yaw Adu, the National Group Identification Coordinator of the UFP, sworn in the new executives into office and charged them to work assiduously towards winning seats in the next Parliament as well as ultimately capturing the seat of the Presidency in next year’s general elections.

He said the Party would hold its national congress in Kumasi on December 10, 2011, to elect its flag bearer.

The Electoral Commission (EC) registered the UFP as a political party on the 12 August 2011, to contest elections in Ghana and create job avenues for the Youths in the country when voted into power, he said

The newly elected regional chairperson, Mr. Osei Agyen said the UFP was formed by business-orientated people who are concerned about empowering the Youths in the county to secure jobs.

He, therefore, urged the Youths in particular to join the party to fight for a better cause.

The UFP has a “key” as its symbol with “Empowerment for Development” as its motto.
