UEW honours five personalities

Winneba(C/R), Nov. 27, GNA 96 Authorities of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) last Saturday honoured five distinguished educationists and academicians including a British for their contribution to the development of education in Ghana. They were, Sir John Saga Daniel, President of Commonwealth of Learning, Professor Leslie H. A. Irwin, an Educationist and Dr (Mrs) Margaret Elizabeth Nkrumah, an Educationist.

The rest were Professor Samuel Kwasi Adjepong, Former Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast and current Principal of Methodist University and Professor Jerome Siau Djangmah, Former Chairman of UEW Council.

Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, Vice Chancellor of UEW in a citation said, “We are proud to confer on them our highest award, Doctorate Degree, Honoris Causa”.

Sir John, Professor Adjepong and Professor Djangmah were awarded the Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa while Dr (Mrs) Nkrumah and Professor Irwin were honoured with Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa. The honour formed part of the 11th congregation of the University during which 2,559 students were awarded Certificates, Diplomas and Masters Degrees.
