UEW Alumni Association is active – Dr Menyah

Dr Benjamin Menyah, President of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Alumni Association, has called on members of the Association to get involved in its programmes and initiatives for the University.

He said it is important for members to eschew the notion that the Association is inactive.

Dr Menyah said this during the 2015 Alumni Congress of the University held at Winneba.

The event was under the theme: “Alumni: Partners for Institutional Development”.

He said the alumni sympathizes with the financial constraints facing management of the University which was as a result of the nation’s economic woes.

In this regard the Association’s money is being invested in various avenues to support the University.

Dr Menyah said the Association exists to support its alma-mater and would continue to do more for the University.

The President said the Association has a representative on the University’s Governing Council and this is besides the membership drive in six regions of the country; it has also acquired two plots of land for the construction of an Alumni Complex and Guest House; and established a magazine to help disseminate information to members.

He said the Association is the richest within the University but the poorest by bank balance and urged members to honour their obligations to help the association execute its programmes.

“Unfortunately, our own established Alumni Fund has been held for years to the extent that we cannot fulfill our financial obligation with a reliable estate developer to bail us out of our infrastructural predicament”, he added.
