UCC SRC to hold emergency meeting on fees

Accra, Aug. 9 GNA – The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on Monday called on students to withhold the payment of the new fees published in the media last week. A statement signed by Mr Vincent H. T. Musah, the SRC President, said the Executive would hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday, August 10 to discuss the fees which it described as unacceptable, since the University authorities had deliberately frustrated the efforts of the SRC to convey the view of the students on the fees prescribed in 53(b) of the UCC Statue.

The statement also said the students could not afford the fees taking into consideration the economic conditions, the inadequate loan scheme and the mismatch between the facilities and the fees charged. The statement further urged all UCC students to comply with the direction to fight a genuine cause and avert the situation where students were taken for granted as partners in the development of the University.
