UBA organises quarterly health exercise

The staff and management of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) at the weekend went through a vigorous health exercise as part of the Bank’s quarterly programme dubbed: “Jogging to Bond” to boost the health of workers.

The exercise, among other things, was to help keep the health of staff and management in check, reduce work-related stress and increase bonding among staff across the Greater Accra Region.

Ms Kathrine-Lois Woode, the Head of Communication, said the exercise was geared towards increasing productivity by ensuring that staff members were fit in order not to burn out of efficiency.

She said due to the high demand from workers of the sector and it related stress, it was necessary they exercised regularly to ensure sound mind and body adding; “The health of a person is the wealth of the nation”.

“We don’t want the situation whereby after you have left the bank, you are not healthy, you are overstressed, you’ve got high blood pressure, you have high cholesterol, you haven’t looked after yourself because you have been sitting by the computer every day or going to the field looking for people,” she said.

Ms Woode, however, encouraged the staff to give off their best through hard work to meet the company’s target and ensure effective customer relations.

The more than 200 staff, who participated in the exercise, went through some aerobics, spinning and other games.

Before gathering at the Lizzy Sports Complex, the management and staff jogged through the principal streets of East Legon and touched base with the branch staff.

Staff from all the 16 branches of the Bank in Accra participated, notable amongst them were Ms Abiola Bawuah, the Managing Director of UBA, Mr Adedeji Adeyelure, the Chief Financial Officer, Mr Chiedu Okonta, the Country Chief Inspector and Mr Adedayo Marcus Adesipo, the Chief Operating Officer.
