Two-year-old boy burnt to death

Accra, Jan. 23, GNA – A two-year-old boy was on Monday morning burnt to death when the room in which he was sleeping at Madina, near Accra caught fire.

In an interview with GNA, Chief Superintendent of Police in Charge of the Accra-North-East Division Police Command, Mrs Elizabeth Allandu said the parents of Master Jude Aryee were not at home during the fire. She said his father Mr Benjamin Aryee had left for work while his mother, Mrs Jane Aryee went to a nearby store to attend to her customers leaving Master Aryee in bed while two other children were outside taking their bath.

Mrs Allandu said the alarm was raised inviting people to assist to fight fire that had started in the house. She said neighbours broke one of the windows at the back of the house in an effort to enter and save the life of little Jude but they were driven away by the thick smoke.

The Ghana National Fire Service at Madina REDCO eventually put off the fire but they found little Jude burnt to death on his bed. Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
