Two-year development plan launched for Oparekrom

Coaltar (E/R), March 13, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Oparekrom, a cocoa growing centre, on Sunday launched a two-year development plan estimated at 150 million cedis.

Launching it at a forum at Oparekrom, near Coaltar, Nana Opare Okai, Ankobeahene of the town said projects under the plan include the construction of a cocoa shed, day care centre and re-gravelling of a six kilometre feeder road to link the town to Dokorochiwah on the main Nsawam-Coaltar road.

Nana Okai said the projects would be carried out through communal labour and the contribution of 20,000 cedis a man and 10,000 cedis a woman for residents while non-resident citizens would pay 30,000 cedis.

Nana Okai appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to assist in re-gravelling of the road to facilitate the carting of cocoa and foodstuffs to the marketing centres.

Nana Yaa Oparebea, Queen mother of the town urged the District Assembly and the residents to support the projects to ensure their early completion.
