Two women killed in a road accident at Tanoso

Abuakwa-Ashanti, May 29, GNA – Two women died on the spot when a 207 Benz bus and a Nissan cargo truck were involved in an accident near Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior Secondary School at Tanoso near Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district last Friday.

The deceased were identified as Adwoa Ampofowaa 27, and Yaa Adu 50. Others who sustained serious injuries and currently on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi included Kwabena Anim, 28, driver of the bus, Adwoa Owusuaa, Emmanuel Quansah and Kwabena George.

The rest were, Akua Kyerewaah, Abena Guraba, Adwoa Foriwaa, Hanna Yeboah and George Arhin.

A police source at the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of Abuakwa police, told the Ghana News Agency that the bus driving from Abuakwa towards Kumasi moved into the lane of the truck to buy fuel at a filling station opposite the School and it hit the right side of the bus.

The source said driver of the truck who was detained for police investigations had been granted bail.
