Two Transport Unions Resolve Dispute

Saltpond (Central Region), 31 Oct.,

The impasse between the Mankessim Ghana Private Road Transport Union, No.3 branch and the Mankessim Co- operative Transport Union which led to the destroying of property last month has been settled by the Mfantsiman District Chief Executive, Mr. George Kuntu Blankson. At a meeting at the office of the District Chief Executive at Saltpond, the Co-operative Transport Union which broke away from the No.3 branch two years ago over some misunderstanding has agreed to rejoin the branch. Mr. Kuntu Blankson urged drivers to refrain from acts which do not promote peace because driving demands a lot of concentration. He urged them to use dialogue in resolving misunderstandings rather than open confrontations which often lead to violence. Mr. Oscar Kweku Appiah, an executive member of the No.3 branch thanked the District Chief Executive for initiating the peace accord, and assured members of the Co-operative Transport Union that everything possible will be done to make them ”feel at home”.
