Two teenagers remanded for stealing

Accra, Sept.17, GNA – Two teenagers, who allegedly broke into a house and stole household items and personal belongings worth 21.6 million cedis at Mallam in Accra appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Kwabena Attah, an 18-year-old driver and Kwame Acheampong 19-year-old labourer, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing. The court chaired by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah remanded them into prison custody to reappear on September 29.

Prosecuting Inspector Emmanuel Boison told the court that on September 12 Madam Beatrice Ashietey, who lives at Mallam, left her house for a programme.

Prosecution said the accused persons broke into four rooms and damaged the various wardrobes, drawers and bags and made away with personal belongings and household items.

The Prosecutor said luck, however, eluded the thieves when a passer by spotted them and raised the alarm.

They were arrested and handed over to a Police Patrol Team.
