Two suspected “wee” dealers arrested in Nsawam

Tetteh Larweh, a 35-year-old taxi driver and his accomplice, Daniel Apraku, 26, have been arrested by the Nsawam Police for possessing some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Stephen Adom, said on March 25, Tetteh Larweh was hired by one Kobby who is on the run to convey the dried leaves from Nkurakan near Koforidua to Achimota.

ASP Adom said on their way from Pokrom-Nsaba near Nsawam to Accra, the two suspected persons were spotted by another taxi driver who suspected them to be armed robbers and gave them a hot chase and with the help of some youth of the Pokrom-Nsaba, they were arrested and sent to the Nsawam Police Station.

He said during a search on the taxi, the two mini fertilizer sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found.

ASP Adom said the seized leaves would be sent to the Police laboratory in Accra for tests while the two suspects who are in prison custody would be arraigned before the Nsawam Circuit Court.**
