Two suspected armed robbers arrested

The Accra Regional Police have arrested two suspected armed robbers at Gomoa Buduatta near Awutu-Bereku in the Eastern region for attacking one Mrs. Hellen Thompson at gunpoint in her shop at Odorkor Terrazzo in Accra.

Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati, the Accra Regional Crime Officer at a press briefing in Accra said on December 13, 2011, the suspects, Obeng Darko aged 20, Solomon Lamptey 25, and Emmanuel Hammond alias Dead body attacked Mrs. Thompson and robbed her of GH? 400.

Superintendent Adufati said on December 14, 2011, while the suspects were sharing the money, a misunderstanding ensued between them and in the process Darko shot Hammond on his right arm and neck but he survived.

He said after the incident Darko and Hammond went to Gomoa Buduatta and upon a tipoff the Police arrested the two suspects on July 1, 2012 at their hide out. Superintendent Adufati said when Darko’s room was searched, a locally manufactured pistol, and four cartridges were found and retrieved.

The two suspects admitted having a group that they operate with.

They have been remanded in Police custody assisting in investigations.
