Two senior high school students have been arrested over the alleged theft of 21 laptop computers costing GH¢ 18,900.00.
Richard Agyemang and Isaiah Tweneboah have appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court and remanded in police custody.
They denied the offence and would make their next appearance on August 5. The computers are the property of the Great Faith Rockery SHS at Ahenema-Kokoben in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District, the very school, the two are attending.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Doris Amewu told the court, presided over by Mr D.W.P Amedior, that the crime was committed on May 12.
The proprietor, the Revered Sylvester Kyei Baffour, received information that the school’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory had been broken into with 27 rLG laptop computers stolen.
A report was consequently made to the police and investigations led to the arrest of Agyemang and Tweneboah. The prosecutor said the two admitted the crime but disputed the numbers involved.
They insisted they made off with only two laptop computers and led the police to the buyer, one Prince, at Tafo-Nhyiaeso in Kumasi, who was also arrested and the computers he bought retrieved.
