Two students drown in Cape Coast

The lifeless body of a student of Accra Academy, believed to be in his twenties was in the early hours of Monday found on the shores of Amanful, a fishing community near the Cape Coast Castle.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased together with his friend were suspected to have drowned while swimming in the sea along the OLA – Cape Coast Castle shores on Sunday.

The Bakaano Police in Cape Coast confirmed the incident and said the body has been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile the body of a the second person, said to be his colleague has still not been found.

The students, according to the eyewitness, were among a group who had come for an excursion to the Cape Coast Castle but decided to swim.

The police revealed that it has launched an investigation into the incident and was collaborating with authorities of some Senior High Schools to ascertain the true identity of the students.
