Two shot dead in Bawku

Reports reaching StarrFMonline.com indicate that two people have been shot dead and several others injured in fresh shootings at Patelmeh in Bawku in the Upper East region of Ghana.

The victims, who have been identified as Alhassan Hadi and Tijani Issaka, according to reports had finished observing their evening prayers and were relaxing in front of their homes when the unknown assailants attacked them for no apparent reason.

The assemblyman for the area, Imoro Mahamadu, who confirmed the incident to StarrFMonline.com said the attacks are suspected to have been triggered by the long standing chieftaincy dispute between the rival Mamprusis and Kusasis in the area.

“The two and their families had finished observing their evening prayers and were sitting in front of their homes with their families when the other group just appeared and started attacking them. I believe it is because of the chieftaincy disputes in this area,” he noted.

The Upper East regional police command has reportedly visited the scene to restore calm.
