Two Sakumono schools have no roofs

After losing its roofs in a rainstorm for over a month, the Sakumono Tema Metropolitan Schools (TMA) A and B, remain roofless. Students are at the mercy of the weather as they flee to seek shelter anytime it rains.

Speaking to the media, the headmistress, Mrs Doris Appiah Boateng, said the school has been hit twice with such a disaster. She said the first occurred in May and the second in June during a downpour.

According to her, in the first instance, the Metropolitan Education Director and his entourage who visited the school were quick in reacting to the situation but on the second occurrence there had been no response.

The headmistress appealed to the TMA and Metropolitan Education Directorate to come to the aid of the schools to help in re-roofing the building to make the place conducive for learning.

Madam Rose Nkrumah, Public Relations Officer, Metropolitan Education Directorate, in a reaction, said re-roofing of the school would commence soon. She told Ghana News Agency that all hurdles have been cleared for work to begin.
