Two Robbers Arrested for Serial Car Snatching

Kumasi, April 3, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Police Command last Friday arrested two armed robbers at Atwima-Koforidua in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District after they had committed a series of robberies. Kwasi Fosu Owusu 27, and Prince Addai Sackey 24, were arrested when a car they had snatched from its owner with the registration number GE 4012 V, was involved in an accident at Atwima-Koforidua but the leader of the gang known only as Oboy escaped.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Bright Oduro, Ashanti Regional Crime Officer, told journalists that on March 28 the three robbers who were armed with locally made pistols, snatched an Opel Astra Taxi Cab number AS 4559 T from their victim called Wiredu at Atonsu. “They continued to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), junction and robbed one Michael Owusu and two others of their mobile phones and cash.” From there, the armed robbers proceeded to Meduma and snatched a KIA Pride Taxi Cap Number AS 9980 X from one Kofi Antwi and abandoned the first taxi.

Mr Oduro further said the robbers moved to Asokwa snatched a private car with registration number GE 4012 V from one Kwadwo Oppong. Their next point was Akwaboa, Ntensere and Enfensi where they snatched mobile phones and an unspecified amount of monies from Nana Agyei Nimo, Abubakr Sadiq and Ali Seidu. Mr Oduro said at Atwima-Koforidua, which was their last point, the robbers were involved in an accident and were arrested by the police.
