Two remanded for possessing narcotic drugs

The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded two people caught with 55 wraps of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine into custody.

Also found on them were seven wraps of dried leaves believed to be cannabis.

The pleas of Latiff Moore, an illegal miner, and Kwasi Asamoah, alias ‘Lalas’, a farmer, were not taken.

They were ordered to re-appear on Monday, August 27th.

Police Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei, told the court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie that the local people at Ahwerewa in the Amansie West District arrested the accused on August 10th at dawn.

They had seen them carrying a black polythene bag containing the drugs to an illegal mining site and became suspicious. So they confronted them and asked to know what was in the bag.

The prosecution said Asamoah managed to slip through, but Moore was arrested and handed over to the Police.

During interrogation, he mentioned Asamoah as the source of supply of the drugs and led the Police to his house at Dotwi.
