Two persons remanded for robbing a soldier

Tema, Dec. 17, GNA- Two persons who allegedly robbed a soldier of his carrier bag, containing personal effects and some important documents at the Ashiaman lorry station have been remanded by the Tema circuit court.

The plea of Augustine Prince, a driver’s mate and Shamba Ibrahim, a mason were not taken.

They would re-appear on December 24.

Police Chief Inspector Teye Matey, prosecuting told the court that at about 2030 hours on November 24, this year, the soldier who was in mufti alighted from a bus at the Ashiaman old lorry station, and no sooner had he moved some steps away from the bus than he was robbed of the bag he was holding by the accused persons.

The soldier reported the case to the Ashiaman police. On December 3, 2004, the complainant went to the lorry station and was able to identify Prince who also mentioned Ibrahim as an accomplice.
