Agona Swedru, Jan 5, GNA – The Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command have arrested two persons from Agona Duakwa in the Central region for allegedly attempting to sell human parts.
Gideon Donkoh, a 22-year-old coconut seller and Kwabena Boakye, a 21-year-old unemployed have been placed in police custody.
Superintendent Osei Akoto, Swedru Divisional Crime Officer, told the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru on Thursday, that the two suspects were arrested by the Police upon a tip-off that they possessed a human skull and other parts and had gone to Agona Swedru to sell them.
According to Superintendent Osei Akoto, Police Detectives were dispatched and the suspects were arrested at a Guest House at Agona Swedru when they posed as would-be buyers.
The Crime Officer said while the Police Detectives were bargaining with the suspects, security personnel pounced on them and when they were searched a human skull, an ankle, arm and other parts were found.
He said the two suspects admitted having the human parts in a bag but mentioned one Alex Asamoah from Agona Nsaba as one who offered to sell the parts to them.
Superintendent Osei Akoto stated, however that when the Police took the two to Nsaba, Asamoah had bolted. The Crime Officer said the two suspects would soon be arraigned before Court. He appealed to the people of Agona Nsaba, Duakwa, Akim Akroso and other surrounding areas to report Asamoah to the nearest police station for arrest.
