Two persons arrested for threatening Police Officers

Sandema (UE), May 27, GNA – The Police have arrested Alhassan Gariba and Abiisitemi Gariba in the Builsa District for possessing a gun without authority and threatening to shoot at Police officers. The District Commander of Police, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Pol ice Isaac Tetteh confirmed the story to journalists at Sandema. AC Tetteh said that on Thursday May 20, Madam Akua Adiivum reported to the Police that she was assaulted by Abiisitemi Gariba. The District Commander of Police said that Gariba Abiisitemi resiste d arrest by the Police and pulled a gun and threatened to kill the security personnel who went to apprehend him. AC Tetteh said Abiisitemi Gariba managed to escape but the Police latter arrested him after they laid ambush for him around his house. The District Commander of Police said Gariba Abiisitemi mentioned Alhassan Gariba as the owner of the gun. AC Tetteh said that when the Police invited Mr. Alhassan Gariba for interrogation he denied knowledge of the gun and accused the Police of tarnishing his reputation. The District Police Commander said that Alhassan Gariba was arrested when that very gun was found in his room after a search was carried out there. He said that Alhassan Gariba had been remanded in prison custody at Navrongo whilst Gariba Abiisitemi was granted police enquiry bail.
