TWO PEOPLE DIED IN MOTORBIKE ACCIDENT AT AKIM AKROPONG IN THE EASTERN REGION

A tragic motorbike accident has claimed the lives of two teenagers at Akim Akropong in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.

The incident which occurred between 11:30am to 12am involved two friends identified as Joel and Papa Yaw. Reports indicate that the boys were traveling from Akim Banso to Akim Akropong when the accident occurred.

The exact cause of the crash remains unknown.

According to the sources, both Joel and Papa Yaw were underage, with Joel aged 16 years. The two had completed Junior High School (JHS) this year and were preparing to further their education. Joel was scheduled to report to school on Thursday, October 24.

Joel’s mother was reportedly preparing food for his school — locally known as shito — when news of the accident reached her.

Papa Yaw died on the spot, while Joel was rushed to Akim Enyiresi Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital due to his critical condition, where he unfortunately passed away.

The community of Akim Akropong has been left in shock and mourning following the untimely deaths of the two young boys.
