Two NPP members attacked in Sunyani

Brong-Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the police to thoroughly investigate an alleged attack on two members of its communication team in Sunyani last Friday.

A statement issued in Sunyani on Tuesday, signed by Mr Kofi Boateng, NPP Brong-Ahafo Regional Communications Director, alleged that Mr Kwame Baffoe and Maxwell Mahama were attacked by some unknown assailants after a programme on the premises of Space FM, a local radio station in Sunyani.

It said the matter had been reported to the police and a medical examination on victims showed evidence of bodily harm as a result of the assault.

The Sunyani Municipal Police Command, when contacted by the Ghana News Agency, confirmed the alleged assault and said the police had commenced investigations.

Police Superintendent Samuel Yankey, Sunyani Municipal Police Commander told the GNA that the victims reported the matter to the police, but not in the name of any political party.

He said two suspects were invited and questioned but declined to give their names.
