Accra, July 19, GNA – Two Nigerian traders were on Monday remanded into prison custody by an Accra Circuit court presided over by Mrs Jennifer Tagoe for possessing illegal firearms.

Ejike Nnalue and Oscar Osita Nwolor pleaded not guilty for possessing illegal firearms and ammunition. They are to re-appear on July 23.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Eric Amoako told the court that on July 1, this year, at about 0900 hours the Police Striking Force had information that some people had concealed several boxes of short gun cartridges in some cylinders to be smuggled out of the country.

He said policemen were detailed to the Accra-Lagos lorry station at Tudu and during an operation three gas cylinders were found to contain four and half boxes of cartridges on two Accra-Lagos bound Peugeot Caravans driven by Michael Asamota and Bello Isamaila.
