Government is to build two police hospitals, one in Sunyani and the other in Bolgatanga to take care of the health needs of officers in the northern part of Ghana.

The two hospitals, when complete, will complement the work of the only police hospital located in Accra which has posed serious challenges of accessibility for personnel living in other parts of the country.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, made the announcement at the 2016 annual WASSA of the Ghana Police Service.

He also spoke about the building of two police training schools.

The President also spoke about equipping the police service with modern equipment to deal with modern day sophisticated crimes like cyber-crime and fraud which are on the increase in Ghana.

President Nana Addo said while government does this, the police service must also work to redeem its public image.

Acting Inspector General of Police David Asante Apeatu said the service will be embarking on restructuring to smoke out miscreants.
