Two NDC constituency chairmen in motor accident

Asamankese, (E/R) Sept. 9, GNA – Alhaji Fuseini Gonja and Mr Kenneth Asare-Larbi, Kade and Akwatia Constituency chairmen of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), respectively, are on admission at the St Dominic’s Hospital at Akwatia following their involvement in a motor accident on the Asamankese-Suhum road on September two.

Also on admission is Miss Evelyn Korang, Kade Constituency Women’s Organiser. Mr Boakye-Yiadom, Youth Organiser for Akwatia, who also received some injuries, was, however, treated and discharged.

A hospital source said the victims were not in danger and were responding to treatment. Alhaji Gonja said they were on their way to Koforidua en-route to Ho for a seminar when the accident occurred.

An Asamankese Police source said at about 13:30 hours on that day, a Toyota taxi cab driven by one Kwadwo Awuku joined the main Asamankese-Suhum road from Amako, without stopping.

The source said the suddenness of Awuku’s action was such that Alhaji Gonja, then driving a Mazda saloon car ran into the cab, which had stopped in the middle of the road on seeing the Mazda.

According to the source, the occupants of the taxi also got injured and were rushed to the Asamankese Government Hospital.
