Cape Coast Dec. 13, GNA – A Circuit Court in Cape Coast on Monday remanded William Mensah, unemployed and Kwame Abakah, a palm wine taper in prison custody for raping a 22-year-old trader at Opon-Kwamankese. The accused persons who were charged with rape, causing harm and stealing, pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Tuesday 28 December. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the Court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that both the accused persons and the victim lived in the same vicinity.
He said that on December 5, this year when the victim was returning from Kwamankese Market, Mensah who had laid ambush ordered the victim to handover all her money and also asked her to choose between rape and death.
Chief Insp Amonoo said the victim gave all the money she had on her to Mensah but he inflicted knife wounds on her body, beat her until she became weak and dragged her into the bush, tore her panties and had sex with the victim.
Mensah sat on the victim’s heard and invited Abakah to also sexually assault her and threatened to stab her if she did not allow Abakah to have sex with her.
Chief Insp Amonoo said the accused persons bolt with the victim’s 140,000 cedis but the victim’s younger sister who was present at the scene went reported the matter to the Police.
