Two men granted 100 million cedis bail for theft

Kumasi, May 31, GNA – Two employees of Meltus Forex Bureau, in Kumasi, have been granted 100 million cedis bail each with two sureties to be justified, by a Kumasi circuit court for conspiracy to commit crime and stealing.

Kwaku Frimpong, 31, a cleaner and Edward Nsiah, 31, a clerk, whose pleas were deferred for a new piece of evidence to be investigated, will re-appear on June 24.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Agnes Dinkyini, told the court presided over by Mr Essel Mensah that, on February this year, the complainant who is the Manager of the forex bureau asked Frimpong to give her an envelope containing 5,000 Euros to be given to a customer. He said the customer did not show up that day, so the complainant put the money back into a cabinet in her office, where only the accused had access.

The complainant therefore, asked Frimpong to change the money into bigger notes in the same currency to keep for the customer. A week later when the customer decided to take the money, the complainant could not find it.

She reported the incident to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department of the Police, which led to the arrest of the two suspects. 31 May 05
