Two men fighting over skulls arrested

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA – The Accra Police have arrested two men, who were fighting over three skulls and legs suspected to be human parts concealed in a bag.

They are; Kwesi Antwi, 22, Francis Ofori Atta, 27, both from Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region while the third suspect is on the run. Mr Bright Oduro, Greater Accra Regional Crime Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that an Officer of the Police Striking Force Unit on patrol arrested them near the traffic lights near Farisco on Kwame Nkrumah Avenue in Accra.

He said the Officer saw the three men struggling over the bag and when he confronted them the third suspect fled from the scene. Mr Oduro said upon interrogation the two suspects claimed that the alleged human parts belonged to the third suspect, who was on the run. He, however, said that when the Officer who made the arrest asked the suspects initially what the bag contained, Atta replied that it contained human parts.

The answer aroused the suspicion of the Policeman. The suspects at the Police station said that someone they did not know left the bag with one of them and that that person failed to come back for it.

The parts have been sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to determine whether they were human parts. 25 Aug 05
