Two killed in separate accidents

Koforidua, July 28, GNA – Joshua Wiredu, a 13-year-old boy, was killed on Friday when a Nissan pick-up with registration number GN 3258 Y knocked him down at Okorase near Koforidua.

The driver of the vehicle, Francis Acheampong, failed to stop and was

pursued by a police patrol team to Koforidua where he was arrested and put in police custody. Superintendent of Police James Sarfo Peprah, Eastern Regional Commander of the MTTU, said the victim was crossing the road when the

vehicle knocked him down. He was taken to the Koforidua Central Hospital but died. An eight-year-old girl, Abena Omburobe, was also knocked down and

killed by a vehicle on Friday at Forifori in the Afram Plains. Superintendent of Police James Sarfo Peprah told GNA that an Opel

salon car with registration number GR 4298 F with a passenger on board

was travelling from Maame-Krobo and on reaching Forifori knocked down

the girl and she died on the spot. The driver, Peter Nsemekli, has been placed in police custody pending

investigations.
