Two young men who raided the offices of some companies and a church house in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District have been sentenced to a total of 60 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Emmanuel Asiedu and Felix Opoku, both 19, broke into the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Christ Redeemer Church at Abuakwa, and Eden Financial Services at Nkawie.
They were charged with conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing, and convicted, after they pleaded guilty.
Asiedu is going in for 35 years, following an earlier conviction over a similar offence, while Opoku would do 25 years.
Police Detective Inspector Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi told the court, presided over by Mr Johnson Michael Abbey, that the crime was committed on the night of June 21.
They first attacked a revenue office of the ECG where they stole equipment valued at over GH¢ 7,000.00, proceeded to the Christ Redeemer Church and made away with some musical instruments and a generator.
Not satisfied they entered the homes of Isaac Boakye and Kwadwo Agyemang and stole their money generator.
They continued from there to the Nkawie branch of the Eden Financial Services, and fled with some office equipment.
The police acting upon information later tracked them down to Kokobeng near Abuakwa and arrested them together with the stolen items.
