Accra, Nov. 2, GNA – A long standing feud between the Akpoma and Boi communities in Ga East District of the Greater Accra Region over a piece of land on Wednesday degenerated into violence, compelling the police to rush there to ensure law and order.
The Divisional Commander of Madina Police Station, Mrs Elizabeth Allandu, in an interview with GNA on Thursday, said two men from Boi were reported to have been attacked by some people from Akpoma. Mr Joseph Yemoh and Mr Okine Mensah were reported to have been attacked on their way to Boi when their vehicle reached Akpoma. Mrs Allandu said there had been misunderstanding between the two communities over the rightful ownership of the land despite a court ruling that the land belonged to Akpoma.
She said following the attack on the two men, an angry group from Boi allegedly broke into the house of the chief of Akpoma, ransacked the palace and made away with some money. Mrs Allandu said several efforts had been made by the police to ensure peace between the two communities but to no avail.
