Two injured in NDC, NPP scuffle over vote transfer in Chereponi

Scores of people have reportedly been injured with two in critical condition after supporters of the NDC and NPP in the Chereponi constituency in the Northern Region clashed Tuesday night.

The angry supporters engaged in the violent attacks after failing to resolve a disagreement over the ongoing voters transfer exercise.

The NPP in the constituency had questioned the legitimacy of some people who had reportedly been transported to engage in exercise.

They party attempted to stop these people from taking part in the process but the NDC insisted.

The party also accused the electoral commission in the area of connivance.

According to a member of the NPP, Cisse, the EC had told them materials for the transfer were finished and failed to register their members.

The disagreement however spiralled into a full blown clashes late Tuesday night when the supporters attacked one another at their various camps.

They pelted stones at each other and pulled down party pavilions.

Two members of the NDC, one identified as Issah, were badly wounded and are currently said to be receiving treatment at the Chereponi hospital.
