Two hundred and thirty-eight recruits pass out

Two hundred and thirty-eight recruits have passed-out at the Basic and Leadership Training School at the Naval Base in Tema.

Apart from one recruit who was discharged, the 212 males and 26 females successfully underwent the six-month course.

Duncan Francisca was adjudged the best female recruit, while Quayson Gadiel emerged as the best recruit in academics.

Anku Cynthia received the Commanding Officer’s special award.

Recruit Abonee Paul passed out with the Best All-Round award and the Best In Drilling award went to recruit Quartey David.

Addressing the parade, the guest of honour, Commodore Albert Bentil Addison (rtd), congratulated the recruits for their hard work and dedication during the course.

He said the recruits have been given the basics as far as fitness is concerned, and urged them to maintain the standards or improve on them.

Commodore Addison urged the recruits not to rest on their oars but to take their subsequent training and courses seriously so that they can serve with distinction.

He advised them not to engage in partisan politics since the military is neutral when it comes to politics.

“Do not molest innocent civilians since they are the people you have sworn to protect,” the Commodore warned.

He urged them to remain disciplined, as discipline is the hallmark of every Armed Force, saying that, amid their challenges in line with their duties, they should remain steadfast.

Commodore Addison added that the oath they have sworn must be their guiding principle and that they must carry out their duties with loyalty and professionalism throughout their career.

Parents, friends and loved ones joined the new officers to make merry on their triumphant passing-out.
