Two Go Stealing – One Bonded The Other Fined

Twifo Praso (C/R) May 12, GNA – Beatrice Nyarku and Yaw Dabla were on Wednesday convicted after pleading guilty to stealing palm fruits from a small-holder’s farm at Twifo Heman, when they appeared before the Twifo Praso District Court.

However, while Dabla, a Farmer of Twifo Heman, was slapped with a fine of 200,000 cedis, Nyarku, a pregnant woman and a Casual Labourer with Twifo Oil Palm Plantation (TOPP), was bonded to be of good behaviour for six months. Both of them would go to prison for six months each in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Henry Tanor told the Court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay, that on May 9 a Security Officer at TOPP, who was on patrol duties, arrested the two persons for stealing palm fruits valued at 50,000 cedis from the small-holder’s farm.
