Kumasi, Sept 23, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court on Thursday remanded two persons who appeared before it charged with stealing 30,000 dollars belonging to a British businessman.
They are Kwame Takyi-Ansah, 34, businessman who deals in gold and diamonds and William Kazapoe, 39, a timber merchant based at Nkawkaw in the Eastern region.
Police Inspector John Afful told the court that Takyi-Ansah was introduced to Mr Delishkumar Ramambam Patel, the victim and his friend, Malcolm Barnes, when they declared their intention to do business in Ghana sometime this year.
The two British nationals went back to the United Kingdom but returned later and Takyi-Ansah met them at the airport. Inspector Afful said on September 19, Takyi-Ansah took Mr Patel to Wenchi and Sunyani where Mr Patel Patel handed his bag to him and told him to take very good care of it because as he put it the bag was his “second wife”.
The prosecutor said the bag contained a laptop computer, three mobile phones, a camera and 30,000 dollars.
They returned to Kumasi later and when Mr Patel collected the bag and opened it he realised the money had been stolen.
