Two ‘galamseyers’ drown in Pra river while escape-diving

Two illegal miners jumped to their death on Sunday while escaping arrest.

The two were among seven illegal miners who hurled themselves into the Pra river to outwit officers who gave them a chase.

The five others are yet to be found.

The officials, who are part of the inter-ministerial taskforce which has been tasked by the president to flush out all illegal miners, gave them a chase during an operation in the at Twifo Praso in the Central region.

The Officer are searching the area for the five others despite growing disaffection for the taskforce by the locals who got enraged by news of the incident.
