Two farming communities build bridge

Nkoranza, Jan 14, GNA – Residents of Breme Number One and Two and Sesekro, farming communities in Nkoranza District are building bridges over rivers Kumsa and Breme.

Mr John Aberiboe Akumpiah, Chairman of the zonal fire volunteer squad told Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that the lack of bridges over the two rivers had prevented drivers from plying the areas.

Farmers in the area carry their produce to cross the rivers before they can transport them to the marketing centres, he said.

Mr Akumpiah commended the Unit Committee members in the area for organizing the people to prepare fire belts at the outskirts of the towns and around their farms to protect them against bushfires. He also praised the fire volunteer squad in the area for ensuring that the area did not experience any bushfire incident for the past three years.
