Two drivers jailed for resisting arrest

Nsawam (E/R), Dec. 29, GNA- The Nsawam Magistrate’s court, presided over by Mrs Ivy Heward-Mills, has sentenced two commercial drivers to 18 months’ imprisonment each in hard labour for resisting arrest and reckless driving.

Seth Agyeman and Charles Ankrah pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector James Karbo Domah told the court that on December 16, this year, Agyeman parked his vehicle at a ” no parking” area and when he was confronted he drove away.

The prosecution said later when the police got in contact with him he resisted arrest and Ankrah, who was occupying the front seat of the Agyeman’s car, took over the wheel and drove off leaving the first accused and the policemen.

Chief Inspector Domah said Ankrah was not seen with the vehicle until December 20, when he was found working with the vehicle and he was arrested in addition to Agyeman.
