Two drivers fined 4 million cedis for stealing

Cape Coast, Aug 9, GNA – Two drivers in Cape Coast were on Monday fined a total of 4 million cedis by a Circuit Court at Cape Coast for unlawful entry and stealing the property of one Mr Solomon Donkor valued at 2.755 million cedis.

Alex Donkor 18 and Michael Ntsiful 22 years old, who pleaded guilty were fined two million cedis each or in default nine months imprisonment.

They were also bonded to be of good behaviour for one year or in default additional four months imprisonment each. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that Mr Donkor was a student and a tenant in Alex’s uncle’s house.

He said on July 18 this year, Ntsiful visited Alex and took advantage of Mr Donkor’s absence, broke into his room and stole a sound system valued at 2.5 million cedis and 15 Compact Discs also valued at 255,000 cedis.

He said when Mr Donkor later detected the theft and on suspicion, confronted Alex he admitted the offence and the matter was reported to the Police.

Chief Inspector Azasoo said upon interrogation he mentioned Ntsiful as his accomplice, adding that, the sound system was with him and he was also arrested and the stolen items retrieved.
