Two die in accident Kintampo

Kintampo, Dec 16, GNA – Two persons, a man and a woman, died on the spot when a cargo truck loaded with goods and travelling from Kumasi to Tamale ran over them near Nante on the Techiman-Kintampo road. The deceased were identified as Madam Felicia Osei, chairperson of the Nante Unit Committee and Mr. Abdul Baagye, a farmer.

An eyewitness Mr. Kwadwo Gyan, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that three other persons got injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital.

They are Mr. Kwadwo Dante, Miss Abanaa Nketia and Mr. Ham Davis. He said an articulated truck loaded with goods was involved in an accident on the road the previous day with all the goods scattered on the road.

The truck fell in the middle of the road thereby blocking other vehicles from passing.

Mr Gyan said the youth of Nante rushed to the area to assist in removing the goods and repacking them.

Because the road had been blocked on-coming vehicles took a detour close by the main road to continue their journey.

Because there had not been any sign to alert other drivers the cargo truck rammed into it trapping five of those removing the goods.
