Two convicted for selling fake gold

A Dunkwa Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship Faestus Fovi Nukunu has sentenced two persons to a day’s incarceration for defrauding one Kwadwo Asiamah to the tune of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 10,000.00) by selling fake gold to him at Diaso in the Central Region.

The suspects Francis Queson and Ebenezer Koffie were made to pay an additional sum of GHc1,200.00 cedis each to the state or in default serve an additional 12-month jail term.

A freelance journalist in the area Gabriel Bediako reports that the victim who is a gold dealer reported the case to the police when he realised that the substance sold to him was not real gold.

In the Judgment, the court ordered the accused persons to refund the GHc10,000.00 cedis to the victim.

They were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and defrauding by false pretence.
