Two Communities Appeal For Rehabilitation Road

Apaa (E/R), July 3, The people of Opare and Apaa in the Fanteakwa District, have appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate, as a matter of urgency, the 10-kilometre road linking the two towns and Begoro, to ease transportation in the area. The Assemblyman for the area, Mr. Dennis Teye, made the appeal when he took newsmen to inspect portions of Apaa-Begoro road on Saturday. He said if immediate steps are not taken to rehabilitate the road the area will be cut off from the rest of the district. Mr. Teye expressed concern that the 10-kilometre Apaa-Akwansrem-Miaso road which was rehabilitated last year, began to deteriorate three months after its completion, due to shoddy work. He said the haphazard manner in which culverts were constructed on the road poses a danger to motorists.
